Amazing new izakaya in Toronto with a large selection at the bar and unique dishes that are must-tries! I visited on the first day of their Soft Opening and they were impressively running smoothly. I started with the Shibuya Mango cocktail which was fruity and addictive. One of my favorite dishes of the evening was the Ham Katsu Sando, a thick juicy breaded ham sandwiched in grilled bread. The flavor and texture was unparalleled and reminded me of the sandos in Japan! The Yaki Gyoza was well executed as it has a crispy "wing" layer which I don't see often in Toronto. Lastly other must-orders are the Yuugi Sushi, fatty torched salmon with smoked shellfish, and the Wagyu Sushi melted in my mouth! The restaurant is fun yet stylish vibe, with Japanese decor at the entrance as well as the signs and wall art. I would highly recommend to give Yuugi Izakaya a visit!
This is a great spot to get drinks and try some delicious authentic Japanese food. A must visit for any foodie, you must try the Yuugi sushi , which is the chef's one of kind creation. Great atmosphere and friendly staff, this is a great spot to hang out and unwind.
Their house sushi (yuugi sushi) is the best I ever had. So delicious! Served without soy sauce, just add a touch of wasabi and let your tastebuds enjoy the party. The karrage is served with a punches egg in the mayo that needs to mixed in yourself - fun interactive dining. And the daily special of chicken wings was amaze balls. Definitely go check it out!
New spot and we wanted to check it out. We ordered two different dishes of yellowtail hamachi and they were not as fresh as I'd hope. The gyozas were good, the fried udon and fried rice ok. Service could use a bit of tweaking ( not very attentive), but I understand, they're new. It's a good spot for a crowd, a fun night and it's not too expensive. But There's so many delicious food options in the area not sure I go back soon.
Walking into Yuugi, you're greeted warmly by the great servers. With a very cozy atmosphere, there's about 50 spots in the restaurant including bar seating. Servers there are really friendly, suggested great items on the menu. I went with a group of 8 people, and they were able to accommodate us easily. We started with chicken nanban karage that comes with tartar sauce on the sauce and a slightly poached egg. The sauce was amazing on that one. Udon pepperoncino was also very good, very nice carbonara sauce. Also the Yuugi sushi was something that everyone has to get. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try some of their other cocktails.
